Wrong Doing
Acrylic on wood, 27 x 43 x 4cm. (triptych)
Walking around my neighbourhood in London, I kept running across the discarded beams from Edwardian and Victorian houses waiting to be renovated. I found this old wood full of nails, and the prospect of recycling it, artistically interesting. I started to imagine the people who used to live in these old buildings, what they would think if they woke up and saw how their once-familiar homes had changed. I began saving this wood, beam by beam, turning it into blocks that I then used as backgrounds to paint my vision of these people’s faces.
