A series of 12 paintings on wood created especially to illustrate a modern epic poem set in the Balkans of the turbulent 19th century and written by Nick Lipley .
The poem recounts the adventures of blacksmith Nikola, who challenged the authorities that govern our world and changed the destiny of his family forever.
